One reason I own the Savage is that it felt controlable. I'm 6'1" and 250lb+ but I knew I did not want a heavy bike thinking that in an
emergency situation, I'd be able to handle a
small bike better.

Well I have had 3 minor situations that have all
involved having to control the bike during and after rapid braking. They all involve using the
front brake and in two situations I have actually
turned the accelerator while braking. bottom line
is that I have always been physically able to
control the bike because of the light weight. A I
get more experience, the likelihood of this
happening has reduced (avoid using the front
brake ala WD).

The question is: if I had the heavier bike, would it have maintained better control when
braking because of its design or would I have
had a bigger fight on my hands to keep it up??

I know that I'll eventually buy a bigger bike but
for now I'm a happy biker.

BTW, does anyone know how much heavier the v-star actually is? I've been thinking 50-100 lb.
For a 650, it feels big (only have sat on them, never rode one yet).
